DE-PRESSED ABOUT NAILS . . .
Hi, welcome and thank you for joining me on my first blog. What a time to start writing, at almost the end of beauty lock-down. It’s been tough and for some of us still is, but let’s focus on the now.
Over the last 10 weeks pretty much all of you have wondered how you are going to live without your nails - I get it, I’m a slave to my trade, but I’m lucky enough to have been able to do my own nails. For the rest of you it’s been like going out commando, cold, vulnerable and hoping no one will notice.
Lots of amazing techs in my industry started their Covid journey down the ‘press on’ route. For those who don’t know what these are, cast your mind back to 1982 to a time when we couldn’t afford to get our nails done professionally. We could only buy a press on set from the shop with sticky tabs or if you were willing to splash out - glue as well. I lost many a press on not knowing where it went or if it would end up in the Sunday fruit cake I baked with Mum.
Anyway, ‘press-ons’ have come a long way from then to bespoke designs, custom fit from some amazing techs, but I made the decision from day one this wasn’t the Covid saviour for me - or you. Why? I hear you cry. Well, apart from the fact that majority of my lovely clients have no idea what they have applied to their nails at their appointments, they also don’t know or understand why and how it is we take them off for you. Not to belittle any of you, some of you are honest enough to say you just don’t care as long as they look nice!
So for us at ATB first and foremost our priority has always been your nail health, and it always will be. Secondly we aim to give value for money not forsaking quality. For us, asking you to buy a set of nails for £20+ that you glued on, without understanding application pressure and removing air bubbles, was just not an option. (You've seen our faces when you turn up wearing the best of DIY nails!) Nor is your home removal method once you've lost a nail, one gone, the rest are done for. We know what you are like, 'tooth to nail' removal is not recommended, ask your dentist! So to avoid the scary ‘greenie’ or the separated nail plate we decided our advise to you was to soak and go au naturale, just like your bikini line. Keeping your £20 in your bank for your post Covid appointment or the copious amount of gin you’ve probably consumed, we want you to attend with healthy ready-to-go nails which we are itching to get our hands on.
So, Ciao for now, please write a comment and like my blog.
See you on the other side
Tracy 😘
